Meaning: To happen or function exactly as planned

Examples:

Kelly was nervous about organising such a big event but in the end everything went like clockwork.

I wouldn’t take a bus to your job interview as they often don’t arrive on time. The trains, however, are very dependable. They run like clockwork.
