Five Fab and Affordable Christmas Stocking Fillers

Are you running out of ideas for stocking fillers for your kids?  It’s not always easy to come up with novel little presents to pop in your children’s Christmas stocking. Hopefully these tried-and-tested (by my son) and inexpensive gifts will help inspire you, and save you some time, and stress!

1. Top Trumps.

As card games go this one is hard to beat. Not only is it educational but the rules are really simple. There is a wide variety of categories to choose from: Bugs, Sharks, Dinosaurs, Football, Planes, Wonders of the World, Star Wars, Frozen, Harry Potter, Roald Dahl, and lots more. In a nutshell, you have facts and values on each card and your goal is to win all your opponent’s cards. You select what you think is the highest value on your card and if your opponent’s value is lower you win their card. Price: approx £6

2. Where’s Wally? The Totally Essential Travel Collection.

Here you have seven classic Wally adventures rolled into one very handy and very affordable travel-sized edition. Price: approx £8

If your children already know Wally’s adventures inside out and are Star Wars fans then I recommend “Where’s Wookiee?”. However, you might find it a squeeze fitting it in the stocking! Around £6

3. Alex Rub a Dub Dub Bath Stickers

These 3-D stickers are a wonderful bath-time treat for the little ones. There are lots of designs to choose from, including the beach, the garden, the alphabet, vehicles. They come in a practical bag you can just leave hanging by the bath and they’re easy to keep mould-free. Just wrap a few stickers up if the whole bag doesn’t fit in the stocking. Price: approx £6-£20

4. How to draw 101…

There’s a whole range of these marvellous books for budding artists, so there’s something to suit everybody, such as space aliens, fairies, cartoon characters, princesses, and animals. Price: approx £5

5. Luminous shuttlecocks

Okay, so the badminton racquets probably won’t fit in the stocking, but this is such a fun present, especially if you play in semi-darkness.

We played with them this summer in the garden and we were all in fits of giggles. It’s like you’re playing badminton with a firefly. Definitely a present to get your kids moving after all the nosh they’ll be eating this Christmas. Price: approx £8 for a pack of 6.
